Similarities and Differences
Some of the similarities between the Mosquito Coast and The Poisonwood Bible are that in both of them, both fathers use physical abuse towards their wives. Both fathers are also crazy. in the Mosquito Coast, there are four kids and a set of twins as well as in the Poisonwood Bible there were four kids and set of twins. Harrison Ford who is Allie Fox in the movie is really crazy because at the end, he purposely burned down the church. One difference between the Mosquito Coast and The Poisonwood Bible is that Allie was alll about bringing industry to a society that wasn't even touched. Another relation between the Mosquito Coast and the Poisonwood Bible is that Mr. Haddie dies in the Mosquito Coast and Ruth May Price dies in the Poisonwood Bible. Mr. Haddie and Anatole are also like the same person. One last similarity that I feel is pretty important is Allies invention which could be a bad thing or a good thing because it was llike the bible; it could have a positive effect or a negative effect. The inventions negative effect was the three invading bad guys but the positive effect was that it brought air conditioning.

Free Post-Basketball Poem
A Basketball
I am orange and black.
Shaped from man made materials.
I like the feel of natural leather.
I am round, smooth and like to bounce.
I am a sophisticated sphere.
Sometimes I hangout in car trunk.
Sometimes I hangout in a closet.
When used correctly, you will find me
hanging out on a basketball court.
Twenty minutes a day, you’re freezing cold.
An hour or two, you’re getting warmer
Spending time with me all day, you’re hot.
Some people have a hard time using me.
For others, it’s a little easier.
I maybe used as a ticket to college.
Not alone, studies walk with me hand in hand.
I am a basketball, you make your dreams possible.

Congo:2000-2007
During the se years of the Congo from 1955 through 1966, a big fight erupted between nations such as Ugandan and Rwnadan forces in kisangani as it always had before in the past years.
In Jan.2001 Kabila was assasinated by a bodyguard and surprisingly by his son. even though Gen. Kabila had died, his government through peace negotiations, and ended the ban on political parties. Also in these years, fights between the militia and nations has continued and causing more problems.
By the year of 2002 most of the foreign trips of the Congo were withdrawn from the Congo.
even though the peace deals were signed, fighting was still continuing in the parts of the congo, especially between the tribal groups in the east and in June of 2003, the United Nations dispatched French-Led peacekeepers to East congo in a huge effort to restore order.
In the end of July 2006, Congo held elections for president and the National and Provisional legislatures.

During the years in the Congo from 1955 through 1966, demands for independence were mounting in Africa because a Belgian professor called Antoine Van Bilsen created a 30 year plan that would grant the Congo inherited elf government. Most of the Belgians that lived in the Congo accepted it of course.
During the late 50's of the Congo, two people by the names of Joseph Kasavubu and Patrice Lumumba became extremely striving for the Congo. They were surprised in great matter by French president, Charles de Gaulle towards visiting in the middle of the Congo where he offered Africans the opportunity to vote in a referendum for continued association with France or with full independence.
In !964 of the congo, UN troops were withdrawn from the country due to a move caused by Kasavubu.

Literature Circle #2- New Critic
For our Literature Circle #2, I was received the job of the New Critic.
Here are some critical passages that i thought in my mind were pretty important to me.
" I pictured myself a ghost: bones and teeth. Rachel a ghost with long white hair; Adah a silent, staring ghost. Ruth May, a tree climbing ghost, a sqeeze hand on your arm. My father was not a ghost; he was God with his back turned, hands clapsed behind him and fierce eyes on the clouds. God had turned his back and was walking away(310)."
" When I want to take God at his word exactly, i take a peek out the window at His Creation. Beacause that, darling, he makes fresh for us every day without a lot of dubious middle managers(248)."
" I don't think Dad ever forgave me, later on, for becoming a free Will Baptist. He failed to see why anyone would need more bluster and testimony about God's plan than what he found, for example, within the fine-veined world of an eyeball. That, and a good chicken dinner on Sundays. Dad drank and cursed some but not in anyway that mattered."
These passages seemed really important to me because it felt that all 3 of these passage had to do with some part of the conflict in this section of this story.

Literature Circle Notes-Revelation
In our literatue Circle for Revelation, the psychological critic talks about Nathan Price. he talks about how Nathan Price is a terrible man because of the way he treats people. We were talking about how Nathan comes to the Congo and tries to convert people to Christianity but Nathan doesn't seem to care about no one but himself. Nathan doesn't even seem like a caring person because when his family gets hurt, he says, "that God will handle them." The way that i feel about this I think that Nathan is a non-caring person because all he cares about is himself and doesn't want anybody to win but himself.
Some of the famous words that we learned about in Revelation through our Literature Circle are Bangala which means the poisonwood tree, and Mbote which means hello and goodbye. This is pretty much the main things that we learned about in our Literature circle.
